Best Books for JEE Mathematics 2025 — Recommended by an Ex-JEE Faculty

By U.K. Mishra May 2025 7 min read

As a former faculty at a JEE coaching institute with 26 years of mathematics teaching experience, I am often asked: which books should my child use for JEE Maths? The answer depends on the student's current level, but this guide gives you the complete picture — from NCERT to advanced problem sets.

Most Important Rule

Complete NCERT Class 11 and 12 Mathematics 100% before touching any advanced book. Over 30% of JEE Mains questions are directly or indirectly from NCERT. Students who skip NCERT and jump to advanced books make a costly mistake.

Chapter-wise Strategy for JEE Maths

Calculus — 35-40% of JEE Maths

This is the most important area. Limits, Continuity, Differentiability, Application of Derivatives, Integration (Definite and Indefinite), Area under curves. Master these and you are more than halfway to a good JEE Maths score.

Algebra — 25% of JEE Maths

Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Sequences and Series, Matrices and Determinants, Permutation and Combination, Binomial Theorem. These are formula and concept intensive — consistent practice is the only strategy.

Coordinate Geometry — 20% of JEE Maths

Straight Lines, Circles, Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola. Very scoring once you understand the standard forms. Practice deriving equations from first principles.

Vectors and 3D — 15%

Highly scoring and relatively straightforward with good practice. Don't skip this — it's one of the fastest areas to improve your score.
